Zooniverse is a 6 issue comic created by Australian born cartoonist Fil Barlow in 1986-87. Published by Eclipse Comics. At the time Australian Comics were mainly published within the country and often in black and white to save printing costs, Zooniverse was distributed internationally in full color. Richly illustrated with a bizarre range of creatures and species called Zoons.
The series followed the bungling exploits of the Kren Patrol, Spak, Entox and Lokki as they escorted a courier to the Halls Of Record. Distrusting the Kren Patrol's ability to safely escort him, the courier escapes falling prey to various political groups fighting for political power within the Zooniverse.
Zooniverse was funded by Minotaur Books, a comic shop in Melbourne, Australia. Owner, Colin Paraskevas, wanted to publish an Australian Comic through the American comic market. Minotaur Books had previously published a large format black & white comic called Inkspots within Australia to limited success.
